Mono Kontroller Bag Released for S4s

DJ TechTools has teamed up with Mono to produce a high-quality bag for large controllers like the Native Instruments Kontrol S4. Mono are the team behind some of the nicest bags in the industry, and after we created our own S4 shoulder bag, they offered to take it up a notch with their signature design and construction. The resulting product is super-impressive and quite possibly the best looking way to travel with a large controller. To celebrate this announcement, DJ TechTools is offering a special Winter deal during this December.

Keyfinder: Key detection software for DJs

KeyFinder is an open source key detection tool for DJs who are interested in harmonic and tonal mixing. Designed primarily for electronic and dance music, it is highly configurable and can be applied to many genres. It supports a huge range of codecs thanks to LibAV, and writes to metadata tags using TagLib.

It’s intended to be very focused: no library management, no track suggestions, no media player. Just a fast, efficient workflow tool.

The standard KeyFinder interface performs batch jobs, detecting the keys of a group of files quickly and simply. There is also a detailed analysis interface, which can be used to visualise chord structures, melodies and key changes in a single recording.

The creator developed this software as part of a project to obtain his MSc in Computer Science.

The software is aimed for OSX, but a windows version can also be obtained from the website of Ibrahim Shaath.

Keytar anyone? Alesis drops Vortex on NAMM2012

Being that the Keytar has reached cult status, these things were hard to come by, as that they were no longer manufactured on a high scale.

Many of you will be glad to hear that Alesis has developed a MIDI variant of the keytar, branding it Vortex.

Here’s my man Ean Golden showing of his skills!
