RSTRCTD – good times ahead

Just got my Kontrol S4 back from Daniel, so I got some nice times ahead!

MIDIfighter, designed by workgringo at workgringo.com

MIDIfighter, designed by workgringo at workgringo.com

I had just the MIDIfighter for a short period, as I was trying to get my new studio in order. But as one might expect I could not just keep it at that.
This is what I am aiming for ultimately ofcourse:

First things first though. I will most probably go and raid the local Ikea to purchase a 4×2 Expedit cabinet, some Capita legs, and some isolating floor panels so that I can finally start building my studio in the attic.

Next to this Daniel(James Dan) and I will be finally setting up a firm basis for RSTRCTDnl. This will become the home stomping ground of our Restricted Sessions, that will also be featured on SimplyRadio’s Simply Electro.

Production-wise 2012 will also be a nice and challenging  year. The liquid d&b(Sparkling Tree) project Daniel and I are working on is working to be a promising track. Mastering and EQing will take place this week.
If this works out to be the fine track we think it to become, we will be talking experimental projects that can work out into a musical expedition not yet encountered!

More on all of this as it will develop of course.

Sparkling Tree – Leslie Jones (WIP)

After all the previous posted Work in Progress tracks, I decided to share one of my own.

value=”always”> height=”81″ src=”http://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fsoundcloud.com%2Ftekki%2Fsparklingtree&g=1&auto_play=false&show_comments=true”
type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” width=”100%”>

Rough skeleton is set, details need to be added.

This track keeps me busy even though I am a bit stuck about its’ direction.

Riding the waves hoaloha!

Just a short photoshop sketch I did for one of the boards I frequent:

One of my duties on the DJTechtools forumboards, is being a moderator. I try to keep everything neat and friendly.
Every now and then I tend to do a small and humorous  sketch in photoshop.

This one was a little bit more based on the DJTechtools target audience, Digital/MIDI DJ which use .wavs or .mp3s to spin their tunes in DJ software.
The DJ software often depicts these as waveforms in the Graphical User Interface for easy handling.

It basically comes down to one geeky and goofy family, hence the obvious spelling errors, the reference to the DJTechtools boards by adding the ‘play/pause’ logo to the surfboard, the digital waveform projected over the real wave and a MIDI Shaolin for my personal touch.

Restricted Sessions does podcasting and Electrojams.com

It has been a solid two weeks and exciting stuff has happened in my life.

First off, I have started writing for the Electronic Dance Blog called Electrojams.com. So far I have only published two articles and one is awaiting publication. (Yes Glen, this will be about Apprehension!)

The other item I have been working on, is getting the Restricted Sessions podcast up and running.
I have created/registered the Restricted Sessions podcast channel at iTunes, and the channel is slowly getting filled.
The crew is psyched and we are filling it with as much interesting recordings of sets as possible.

We will also try to include the restricted Sessions webcasts as we broadcast on an almost weekly basis just for that extra bit of fun.

The Mouth has come

Not too long ago, me and my best friend Daniel started thinking about a project that had to do with vocals and harmony.

We decided back than, that we needed to go in deeper into Reaktor.
Since than, months have passed, and now Tim Exile comes along with this nice kit called ‘the Mouth’.

According to Native Instruments:

Electronic artist and innovator Tim Exile showcases “The Mouth” – a new software instrument that can turn any audio signal into music.

Sing, beatbox, or send a drum loop into it, and “The Mouth” comes to life as a highly expressive and somewhat unpredictable synthesizer, vocoder or talkbox-like instrument.

The Mouth can be used as a stand-alone application and as a plug-in in a DAW or host sequencer, covering all kinds of live performance and music production scenarios.

Can’t wait to get my paws on this beast!

We need to go deeper

Ik ben normaal gesproken niet echt een fan van Leo diCaprio, hoewel hij toch echt geen slecht acteur is. Toch is het onderstaande wel van toepassing op de muzikale ontwikkeling die ik aan het door maken ben:
